How do we start with sustainability measures?
Start with an energy audit or scan. This provides insight into the costs and benefits of various energy-saving measures. Ask us who can carry this out properly and with subsidies.
What is an MYMP?
A MYMP (Multi-Year Maintenance Plan) maps out which common elements exist and when maintenance is required to keep the building in good condition, and what this will cost. Based on this, the required level of monthly service charges is calculated to ensure maintenance can always be carried out on time.
What is a SMYMP and why is it useful?
The SMYMP (Sustainable Multi-Year Maintenance Plan) combines scheduled maintenance with sustainability and/or additional energy-saving measures carried out at the same time. For example, improving roof insulation beyond the original specification. This almost always saves money and reduces disruption. Ask us to share examples.
Which subsidies are available for HOAs?
There are national and local schemes. Be aware of the difference between HOA subsidies and subsidies for individual owners. We are happy to think along with you about the best approach for your HOA or for you as a private owner.
How do you create support within the HOA?
Explain the benefits clearly and simple terms (comfort, lower costs, increased property value).
Work step by step and use practical examples. We can share both successful and unsuccessful approaches from other HOAs.
Can we monitor energy consumption?
Yes, using (sub)meters and simple tools. This allows you to adjust usage and clearly see savings.
Is a HOA legally required to become more sustainable?
At present, a HOA is not legally obliged to implement sustainability measures. (However, buildings and residential complexes must be energy-neutral by 2050.) In some cases, sustainability measures are not yet technically feasible. Even so, it is wise to explore the available options. We can help you with the process and the associated decision-making. How can an apartment be made more sustainable?
There are various aspects: internal measures (ceiling, floor, insulated stud walls), replacing the boiler with an HR boiler, installing a hybrid heat pump, replacing radiators (adding reflective foil), reducing energy use (LED lighting, induction cooking, smart energy meters, etc.).
